Aglow with trepidation, CYCM preview

Course You Can Malcolm is set to be the best so far this season with a packed menu of stupidity, intellectual endeavour, cake, live music, controversial ceremonial mastering and tater hash. David Conn follows up his excellent feature in our programme with a live appearance at CYCM. David is a sports writer for The Guardian, it says if you google him, and he has written the superb books The Beautiful Game and Richer than God. He is an enthusiastic advocate of affordable football and has researched and exposed the more corrupting elements within football. He is a vehement supporter of football tradition, culture and community. He’ll be speaking and answering questions from about 1pm.

The cake promises to be as exquisite as a brief encounter at the showing of Brief Encounter at the world’s first passenger railway station. The Nun will make a very early appearance in Polka Mahol, the game that hints at a lunacy that is commonplace at Malcolmses. Of course, Course You Can Malcolmses continued with its revenue streaming with £383.20 from beer, £149 procreated from food sales and £44 wheedled by Scott in raffle money for a bonkersly rare beer. Generating a grand total of £576.20. Well done all you Malcolmites, and we’d also like to thank Herbie for the soup donation.

Burning from the Inside, the radiant Manchester band, will be playing their unique brand of fiery music to an appreciative audience who are well equipped in the use of flame retardant graphene blankets, fire extinguishers and the throwing of liquid, non-combustible, onto flame. 22 minutes of blazing music is an event not to be taken lightly. I’m aglow with trepidation, luminosity and wonder. The dimness of a small room at Gigg Lane illuminated in a flash of pyrotechnics.

The band say, “Burning From The Inside are a Mancunian Punk Rock band who have been honing their skills for the last two years. Their influences are diverse and this is reflected in the fact that they don’t sit within any particular sub-genre of Punk. Their overall aim is to make people think about issues via their taut punk riffing. As half the band trained for their proper jobs at Prestwich Hospital as well as the usual political topics that punk bands cover, the band also write songs about the personal damage that society inflicts on people. Their first single, the self-financed “Alienated For Life”, will soon be available from the band at gigs. It is also on Sound Cloud and Reverbnation for those that would like to listen to it.”

Next up, The Weatherman will tell it as it is - wet, windy and dry, an oxymoron with a mic. Players tremble with anticipation, their name often taken in vain. The never-changing opposition stays fresh with the Weatherman.

The need to partake promptly in this orgy of goodness and love is essential. Headwear is compulsory for entry, monocles are banned.
