Peterloo-related events in Manchester this week:

1. Manchester Trades Union Council is marking the 193rd anniversary of Peterloo with a commemoration concert this Thursday, 16 August, 7pm at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Peter Street, Manchester M2 5GP.  Performers include Claire Mooney, Dave Puller and Our Morals. Entry price £3/£1 concessions.
 

2. Guided walks

Red Flag Walks are doing a walk, ‘The story of Peterloo‘, on Thursday 16 August at 11am, meeting at the Friends’ Meeting House, Mount Street. Price £6/£5.  Full details at http://redflagwalks.wordpress.com.

New Manchester Walks are also doing a Peterloo walk on Thursday 16 and Sunday 19 August, starting on the Midland Hotel steps, Peter Street at 11am. Price £5. Further details at www.newmanchesterwalks.com

 

3. Other Peterloo events, all hosted at the People’s History Museum, include:

- a Manchester City Council / Peterloo Legacy Trust event at the People’s History Museum – a lecture by Tony Lloyd MP, The Peterloo debate: policing in a democracy, on Thursday 16 August 6-7pm.  Free but booking required – email info@phm.org.uk for further information

- a Café Historique commemoration on 16 August, starting at 2.30pm with a Gallery Reflective Tour and then at 3pm a Book Club discussion on Chapter 19 of The Manchester Man by Isabella L. Banks

- a musical performance, Peterloo – Soldiers on the Rampage Sunday, on Sunday 19 August from 3-5pm. Price £8/£4 concessions.
