A message from Salford’s Working Class Movement Library:

We have been shortlisted in the Arts Council-funded Museums at Night competition to win an artist to appear in an event at the Library. This is an annual celebration when hundreds of museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites open their doors for special evening events. This year it’s Friday 18 – Sunday 20 May.

Now we have to rally the public behind us to get our entry into first place of the three contenders to ‘win’ photographer Simon Roberts.  We have a fortnight to encourage people to vote for WCML. The venue with the most votes at 5pm on Monday 5 March will win.

Click here to vote for the Working Class Movement Library, and then email this link/tweet/add to Facebook/hire a plane with a big streamer/walk round the Gardens with a sandwich board, to let as many people as you can think of know to do likewise. Please note that you can only vote once in each category*.

*PS The Peeeple’s History Museum has also been shortlisted, in a different category to ourselves, to win an artist.  To help our friends there, head here to vote for PHM as well.

PPS The Library stormed into an early lead in the voting but has now been overtaken by the Quay Arts Centre on the Isle of Wight.  Clearly Simon Roberts is going to want to come to Salford for a weekend rather than the Isle of Wight, so help him make his dreams come true by voting now.
