Pulitzer Prize up for grabs

Submitted by on April 21, 2011 – 8:09 amNo Comment

FC United beat Marine 2-1 last night to virtually guarantee a play-off place. The reds just need a point from their remaining two games to secure a spot.

Details of the match are below, but in short, United came back from a goal down.

In other ‘news’, the yonners’ paper up in Oldham have again excelled themselves with a Pulitzer Prize contender if ever there was one, on the front page today.

It will surprise no one to discover it is written by our favourite blue-sympathising hapless hack – the same one who got the name of the Moston playing fields, where FC are hoping to move to, wrong despite there being a picture of the gates bearing its name with the story…

Apparently, shock, exclusive, hold on to your trilby – fans will get shit allocations for the FA Cup Final. Yes it is the year 2011 and you have not been transported back to 1990 when this was actually news.

The slow news day is becoming a slow news week for the no newspaper. It’s a rarity for city fans to be involved in a cup final, granted, but how is this even a lead story never mind a splash?

The biggest revelation in the story is that city will ‘use the dressing room’. Mr Keegan is obviously still thinking about Ronald (Roland?) Johnson playing fields and their lack of facilities and fearing that city’s stars will have to get changed on the backseats of their Bentleys in the car park before the big game.

Oh well, it’s only fair that the Evening News carries this yearly (for those of us used to Wembley trips) non-story because they also did a front page splash on the estimated 25,000 Reds that missed out on a ticket for the semi final at Wembley. What? They didn’t even cover that? You do surprise me.

FC travel to Matlock on Saturday and could confirm a play-off spot. See you there…
