Spot on, there, Lesley. Relegation's not nice, but there's no difference to the fan from being relegated from the third division to the fourth division or from the first division to the second division. I've never bought in to all this "Premiership is wonderful" crap and I despise most of the new breed of Soccer AM "supporters", who struggle to comprehend that there was football before the "Premiership". I'll always remember the FA Cup win, I won't remember losing on Tuesday. 'Uddersfield or Chelsea? Give me the Yorkies every day.

Believe me, it's been an absolute pleasure for us at Mudhutters to piss off the Tarquins and TeeJays you describe so much for the last few years. We've got Mr Wengers gander up more than a few times and it got better every time!
I think the real football folk get us, the Soccer AM'ed up, Talkshite and Twatter brigade couldn't manage it.
Mainly because most of us just didn't buy into all the Premier League being the be all and end all rubbish for a club of our size.
You know what, despite what the faux 24 hour footy people may think, none of us are crying or bemoaning our rotten luck at not playing in the bestest league in the whole world next season. A number of us shed a few tears of joy on Saturday but that's different. We don't do the Sky stuff of crying into scarves just because we are losing.(and hardly any of the Mudhutter crew wear scarves anyway!)
No, the main talking point amongst a few of us this morning once the night before dust had settled was this. Will Yeovil or Brentford win the play off to play in the Championship? We are in a quandary! Brentford, yes, because Brentford has always been a bonzer away trip. But, Yeovil, yes as well because apart from about 20 people who went to a pre season friendly there in 1979 nobody has seen Wigan Athletic play in Yeovil!! It's a split decision about who we want to win at Wembley in their final.
The Tarquins and TeeJays won't get it again when they see that we'll take more to Brentford or Yeovil than we did to most games against "The" Arsenal (The Carling Cup Semi and last game at Highbury excepted)
FC United lads do get it, and that's why we like you so much!
It's been a delight to be a total pain in the arse to so many people for so long!

Questions:

Biggest songwriting influences include Tom Petty and the Clash, two of the most overrated "musicians"/bands of all time? How can this be? Having just listened to the excellent "Some Facts" via your SoundCloud link, I'd say the Stranglers are a big influence, even if you've never listened to them before. Just say they are. Fuck it.

Going out to a gig but being in bed by midnight is, and I quote, "rock and roll..."?

You truly believe Manchester is the greatest city in the world? Upon what do you base this grandiose claim?

Best gig was Paul McCartney "due to the setlist"? As opposed to what, the fucking seat covers?

The music is belting. Loved it.
